2021-22 Oxfordshire XC Round 1

Round 1 of the 2021-22 Oxfordshire XC League took place at Bicester Heritage which is the site of the Bicester airfield. This was the second time the League has visited the airfield. A report by the organiser says "What a welcome relief it was to be able to see some cross country action again! The weather looked down kindly on us at Bicester Heritage and aside from the wind a better start to the 2021–22 season could not have been wished for. The dry conditions and welcome sunshine made going ideal underfoot. This was also the first fixture to have equal gender course distances set since the equal gender vote taken at the 2021 AGM this summer."

Below I indicate those that did well in the races for U17 and above. As the above image indicates, the U17 runners did two medium laps and the U20/Senior/Vet runners did a mini lap, a medium lap and a large lap. The mini and medium laps kept to the NE side of the airfield whereas the large lap circumnavigate the airfield.
Occasionally the airfield entertained. The organiser's report says "Although some of the take-offs appeared a bit sketchy, there were no emergency landings to disrupt proceedings, thankfully."
