As its name suggests, the Run Wytham Woods 10K takes place in Wytham Woods.
These are woods 3M West of Oxford.
The website for the Woods
says
"Wytham Woods is an ancient semi-natural woodland,
which has been owned and maintained by the University of Oxford since 1942.
Its 1000 acres are a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest
and are one of the most researched pieces of woodland in the world, exceptionally rich in flora and fauna,
with over 500 species of plants, a wealth of woodland habitats,
and 800 species of butterflies and moths.
The ancient woods date back to the last Ice Age,
while the secondary woodland dates to the seventeenth century
and the plantations to the 1950s and 1960s.
The Woods are enjoyed by walkers, wildlife enthusiasts, and school children,
and used by researchers both from the University and around the world
for wildlife and environmental research.
We have a wealth of long term biological data, with bird data dating back for over 60 years,
badger data for over 30 years and climate change data for the last 18 years.
Current research projects are investigating subjects including climate change, blue and great tits,
badgers, bats and small mammals."
The above image shows the race routes of both the 10K and the 1M Fun Run.
The contours on that map show that ...
... some hills are involved!
