As no races are taking place at the moment, I'm creating some web pages entitled "where I was taking photos this time last year". Today, I'm looking at Race 5 of the Tempo Winter Series which takes place from Ilmington (in Warwickshire), a village that is 4M NW of Shipston-on-Stour. It's about 34M from Oxford.
As regular readers of these reviews (!) will know, I did a review of Race 4 that is normally held in January. As I like this series of races I try to get to as many as I can but some of them clash with races nearer home. Here's a link if you wish to skip the rest of this intro and go straight to the photos on this web page.
In my January review, I gave this overview which I took from the organiser's website: "The Tempo Winter Series is a series of five road races run over a course of 10.13K. The course is the same for each race but is run counter clockwise then clockwise on each alternate date. It is perfect winter training territory as there are a few, well, one quite big hill involved." That big hill is long and steep. It's called Lark Stoke Hill and it's on the W side of the course. Normally the series of 5 monthly races take place in October, November, December, January and February.
Today my review is of Race 5 of the 2019-20 Tempo Winter Series which took place on Sun Feb 16th 2020. This year's Race 5 was to have taken place today (Sun Feb 21st 2021). Unfortunately, because of Covid-19 it has had to be postponed.
By the way, you can click on any of the photos on this web page to see the photo in hi-res.
Races 1, 3 and 5 do the main circle of the above route in anti-clockwise
whereas races 2 and 4 do it clockwise.
The organiser's website
says
"Races 1, 3 and 5 all head along Mickleton Road to the bottom of Larkstoke which is your major ascent in the run. Once you’re at the top you turn left and start decending down Nebsworth Lane and Campden Hill into Ilmington. Turning right at the bottom follow the road around to the Red Lion Pub. Turn right again and follow a loop that brings you back around to the village. This time head past the Howard Arms and then the Red Lion from the opposite direction. Heading back past Campden Hill the marshals will direct you down back lane, past the primary school. The final few hundred meters are back onto the Mickleton Road with the finish on the grass field by the Sports Club. Races 2 and 4 all do the opposite of the above, heading to the village first and doing the loop from and back to the pubs before ascending Campden Hill. The route decends down Larkstoke before a 1K run along Mickleton Road. The finish heads past the Sports Club before entering the field."

If you did Race 5 of the 2019-20 Tempo Winter Series and want a reminder, then here's a link to all the photos that I took. There's a calculator on that web page that makes it easy to find the photos of a runner given their time and you can find the time from the results web page.
If you want to see the reviews I've done on other races, then here's a link to a web page that includes an index of the reviews of races.
I'm planning for my next review to be of the 2020 Bourton 10K. I hope to post that on Sunday (Feb 28th 2021).
I maintain a web page for runners that provides a list of races near Oxfordshire and the latest results. So go and visit www.oxonraces.com to see what races may take place. And if you use twitter, you may want to follow @oxonraces to become aware of important changes to this web page.
