As very few races are taking place at the moment, I'm creating some web pages entitled "where I was taking photos this time last year". Today, I'm looking at the Hooky Christmas Canter which takes place from Hook Norton.
The organiser says "the Christmas Canter is a chilly, hilly, mix of road, field and trail over a scenic 7M course - competitors are encouraged to wear fancy dress (entirely optional!) and are rewarded with mince pies, mulled wine (water also available!) and much festive cheer - a superb way to round off the running year". Last year's race took place on Sun Dec 15th 2019. Although it was dry (with a cold wind) during the race, it rained quite a bit before the race which ensured that many parts of the course were muddy. This year's race was to have taken place today (Dec 20th 2020). Unfortunately, because of Covid-19 it has had to be cancelled.

If you did the Hooky Christmas Canter in 2019 and want a reminder, then here's a link to all the photos that I took. There's a calculator on that web page that makes it easy to find the photos of a runner given their time and you can find the time from the results web page.
If you want to see the reviews I've done on other races, then here's a link to a web page that includes an index of the reviews of races.
I'm planning for my next review to be of the 2017 Aylesbury Boxing Day Race. I hope to post that on Sat Dec 26th 2020.
I maintain a web page for runners that provides a list of races near Oxfordshire and the latest results. As well as a lot of postponed/cancelled races(!), it is now includes several races that plan to abide by the Covid-19 regulations. So go and visit www.oxonraces.com to see what races may take place. And if you use twitter, you may want to follow @oxonraces to become aware of important changes to this web page.
This web page is at www.oxonraces.com/blog/2020-12-20-hook-norton. It was created on Sun Dec 13th 2020 and last updated on Sat Dec 19th 2020.
