As very few races are taking place at the moment, I'm creating some web pages entitled "where I was taking photos this time last year". Today, I'm looking at the Cotswold Classic 10.
The Cotswold Classic 10 is a 10M road race organised by Witney Road Runners. Last year's race took place on Sat Sep 7th 2019. It was the 11th race in the Oxfordshire AA Road Grand Prix and it was also the long distance race in the Oxfordshire AA Road County Championships.
This year's race was to have taken place today (Sat Sep 5th 2020). Unfortunately, because of Covid-19, it has had to be cancelled.
By the way, you can click on any of the photos on this web page to see the photo in hi-res.
.
The above map is taken from a post in August 2019 on the
Facebook page for the race.
As you can see the course is shaped like a letter P
and it starts/finishes at the bottom end of the stem.
The start/finish is at Kings School on New Yatt Road in Witney
and on the loop (which is done does anti-clockwise) it visits New Yatt, North Leigh, East End and Wilcote Manor
before returning to New Yatt.
Somewhere I read this description: "it's a relatively hilly/undulating course with one particularly long climb known locally as the 'hillzakilla' (total elevation gain is 518ft)."
It's marked as 'Caution: Hillzakilla' on the map.
"However, there is a very fast finish - the last 1.5M from New Yatt is more or less downhill."
Here are some photos of the male runners who finished in the top 3 and/or were first in their age category. These photos are ordered by the position of the runner.

If you did the Cotswold Classic 10 in 2019 and want a reminder, then here's a link to all the photos that I took. There's a calculator on that web page that makes it easy to find the photos of a runner given their time and you can find the time from the results web page. That web page not only has the results of the race but also the runner's result in the Oxfordshire AA Road County Championships.
If you want to see the reviews I've done on other races, then here's a link to a web page that includes an index of the reviews of races.
I'm planning for my next review to be of the 2019 Overton 5. I'm hoping to post that review tomorrow (Sun Sep 6th 2020).
I maintain a web page for runners that provides a list of races near Oxfordshire and the latest results. As well as a lot of postponed/cancelled races(!), it is now beginning to includes several races that plan to abide by the Covid-19 regulations. So go and visit www.oxonraces.com to see what races may take place. And if you use twitter, you may want to follow @oxonraces to become aware of important changes to this web page.
This web page is at www.oxonraces.com/blog/2020-09-05-witney. It was created on September 2nd 2020 and last updated on September 5th 2020.
