As races are not taking place at the moment, I'm creating some web pages entitled "where I was taking photos this time last year". Today, I'm looking at the Headington 5 which takes place in Oxford.
The organiser's website says "The Headington 5 is a fast 5M loop - it starts and finishes in Boults Lane recreation ground, approximately 400 metres from the Race HQ, and takes in the tracks on the Northern bypass and the Marston Ferry Road - it is largely free of traffic". Last year's race took place on Sun Aug 25th 2019. It was one of the races of the Oxfordshire AA Road Running Grand Prix and it is was also the short distance race in the Oxfordshire AA Road Running County Championships. It took place on a day with bright sunshine and so some of the photos given below are a bit over/underexposed because I was battling with the runners running into bright/shady places.
This year's race was to have taken place today (Sun Aug 30th 2020). Unfortunately, because of Covid-19 it has had to be cancelled.
By the way, you can click on any of the photos on this web page to see the photo in hi-res.

The above map is taken from the organiser's website
The route is in 5 sections. It begins with a wander round the picturesque village of Old Marston.
There is then a long straight on the cycle-path/footpath alongside the A40.
The route then meanders through a housing estate
before retuurning along a cycle-path/footpath alongside the Marston Ferry Road.
The final section is a short section in Old Marston.
The route uses two underpasses to avoid crossing the Marston Ferry Road.

If you did the Headington 5 in 2019 and want a reminder, then here's a link to all the photos that I took. There's a calculator on that web page that may help you to find the photos of a runner given their time and you can find the time from the results web page.
If you want to see the reviews I've done on other races, then here's a link to a web page that includes an index of the reviews of races.
I'm planning for my next review to be of the 2019 Helmdon Hurler. I'm hoping to post that tomorrow (Mon Aug 31st 2020).
I maintain a web page for runners that provides a list of races near Oxfordshire and the latest results. As well as a lot of postponed/cancelled races(!), it is now beginning to includes several races that plan to abide by the Covid-19 regulations. So go and visit www.oxonraces.com to see what races may take place. And if you use twitter, you may want to follow @oxonraces to become aware of important changes to this web page.
This web page is at www.oxonraces.com/blog/2020-08-30-oxford. It was created on August 26th 2020 and last updated on August 30th 2020.
