As races are not taking place at the moment, I'm creating some web pages entitled "where I was taking photos this time last year". Today, I'm looking at the Alchester 5K which takes place from Marsh Gibbon, a village in Buckinghamshire that is close to the A41 and about 4M East of Bicester.
The organiser's website says "The Alchester 5K is a fast and flat road route around the village of Marsh Gibbon. The 2019 race was a sell out with no entries on the day." It took place on Wed Aug 14th 2019. It was one of the races of the 2019 Oxon AA Road Race Grand Prix. This year's race was to have taken place today (Wed Aug 12th 2020). Unfortunately, because of Covid-19 it has had to be cancelled.
By the way, you can click on any of the photos on this web page to see the photo in hi-res.

My thanks to Oranj who has posted the route of the first Alchester 5K
to
www.fetcheveryone.com.
However, these days the fetcheveryone map is not right as the start is in a different place.
I've taken the fetcheveryone map and adjusted it so it has the new position of the start.
The adjusted map is shown above.
The race starts about halfway along the straight that goes from West to East towards the middle right of the map. The race goes eastwards along this straight and then turns left to go North. It then bends around to the left to go westwards along Castle Street. When Castle Street becomes Church Street, the route goes South along Clements Lane. At the crossroads (which is in the middle of the map), it turns right along Spier's Lane, Whales Lane and West Edge. It then turns SouthEast to go along Scotts Lane. The route continues along Scotts Lane as it switches to go East. And, at its end (at the T-junction), the route goes North back to the crossroads. Here it goes East along the straight that was used for the start. The race finishes in the grounds of the Race HQ.

If you did the Alchester 5K in 2019 and want a reminder, then here's a link to all the photos that I took. There's a calculator on that web page that makes it easy to find the photos of a runner given their time and you can find the time from the results web page.
If you want to see the reviews I've done on other races, then here's a link to a web page that includes an index of the reviews of races.
I'm planning for my next review to be of Race 5 of the 2019 Mota-vation Series. This took place at Kidlington. I hope to post that on Thu Aug 27th 2020ยท
I maintain a web page for runners that provides a list of races near Oxfordshire and the latest results. As well as a lot of postponed/cancelled races(!), it is now beginning to includes some races that plan to abide by the Covid-19 regulations. So go and visit www.oxonraces.com to see what races may take place. And if you use twitter, you may want to follow @oxonraces to become aware of important changes to this web page.
